Mozilla has just released the Fennec 2.0 Alpha for Nokia N900 and Android 2.0+ devices. Fennec is the code name for Firefox mobile and includes the ability to install browser add-ons and sync with the desktop version of Firefox. The new version comes with built-in support for Firefox Sync (what was known as Weave), so that tabs, passwords and bookmarks that you use on your desktop can be easily synced and transferred to your mobile device. The alpha also includes support for pinch-to-zoom on Android, location-aware browsing, the ability to save a site as a PDF, and built-in site sharing via Facebook, Twitter or Google Reader.

Google’s Chrome browser is steadily increasing in popularity among consumers, and now it looks like Google is making a more concentrated effort to lure enterprise and corporate users too. As The Chrome Source points out, Google has now made the Chrome browser downloadable as an MSI file , which will make wide and remote deployment much, much easier for system administrators. In an effort to make the Chrome installation process easy (and to ensure users are downloading the latest version), the normal Chrome for Windows installation process downloads the installer package during the installation itself. We ran our own Mac-based performance tests last week with Firefox’s pre-beta release candidate, and found Firefox 4 an improvement, but not quite catching up to other browsers in raw speed. Web Worker Daily did its own MacBook Pro tests , and found that Firefox 4 was, at best, on par with Opera 10.6 on Mozilla’s Dromaeo testing suite (they ran the combined “Recommended Tests,” whereas we broke the results into JavaScript and CSS).
