How Do You Trim The Top of a Hedge With a Ride-On Lawnmower? [Lawnmowers]

The answer: with a crane people...with a crane. It makes perfect sense now. I mean, the manual for the ride-on lawnmower did not specifically state that you couldn't raise it up with a crane to trim the top of a very large hedge, so that's just what two lunatics from Cambridge New Zealand did. "The mower was doing an all-right job, but I reckon it would work better on a hedge that's not so spiky." Maybe they need one of those Zero-Turn mowers with a larger cutting deck instead of a basic lawn tractor.

Product Tank Is Like a Booby Trap For Your Toast [Toasters]

This Product Tank concept employs an innovative solution to the problem of toastables that are oversized in either length or width. There are no slots, and the walls close in like your bread stumbled into a booby trap. Of course, instead of crushing or impaling, these walls toast your bread to death. The crumby lifeblood falls into the pan below, and can be easily removed and cleaned for the next victim. Again, Product Tank is only a concept, but it has potential

Gmail Prematurely Marking Some Messages as Read [Inboxes]

Bloggers , Twitter users, and TechCrunch are reporting that certain Gmail accounts are marking incoming messages as "read" upon delivery, leaving inboxes apparently, falsely empty. Google's Apps Dashboard isn't reporting any problems as of this post, but a blogger reports the problem as IMAP-related, and offers this advice for IMAP users: " ... set the PEEK mode to TRUE if you get an (e)mail's BODY from Gmail." If you've experienced this issue yourself, and maybe verified a fix for it, share it with your fellow Gmail users in the comments.

My new toy is on its way

Good lord.  Has it really been almost 2 weeks since I last posted?!  I apologize profusely.  Dunno why, but this year I have been in a total blogging doldrum; I come up with ideas for posts and then, like fog melting in the morning sunlight, they drift away, never to return.  Part of the problem, I think, is that Twitter posting has taken the place of my one-off blog posts, the quick-and-dirties that point to a news story or a very cool picture or what-have-you.  The other part is that I think m
