Redfin’s CEO, Michael Arrington And Tom Cruise Walk Into A Room
With TechCrunch’s fifth birthday less than 24 hours away, a certain degree of navel gazing is appropriate, if not required. On Wednesday afternoon, TechCrunch founder and newly minted Seattle resident, Michael Arrington , dropped by Atlassian’s Starter Day for a double header: an interview with Redfin CEO Glenn Kelman and “Tom Cruise” (more on that later). Over the last few years, Arrington has interviewed Kelman several times (most recently here ), but at Starter Day, Kelman got to turn the proverbial tables on Arrington, taking the questions to him. For those who want a primer, or more insight on the origins of TechCrunch, why he hasn’t sold the company yet, why he doesn’t think he would make a good CEO, and the value of boat ownership, see the video above.

More bad juju for JooJoo: shipping delays, pre-sale questions
Monday, March 29 was supposed to be a happy day for Fusion Garage -- that's when the first JooJoo tablet pre-orders were scheduled to greet customers . Unfortunately, it's looking like Tuesday, March 30 will instead go down as yet another day full of unresolved questions for the fledgling company: not only did the 29th come and go without a peep, a new document from the TechCrunch lawsuit sent to Gizmodo suggests that only 90 total pre-orders were made as of February 11, and that 15 of those orders were canceled. Uh-oh. Now, Fusion Garage tells us that JooJoo units are actually in Los Angeles, where they've just been released from a paperwork-related customs delay, and that the "absolute worst case" is that they'll arrive to customers via overnight shipping on April 2nd, although FG is hoping for the 1st. We're also told that the 90 preorder number is low and the court documents are inaccurate because the company's relationship with PayPal was terminated over those issues with the terms of sale -- but the JooJoo website still lists PayPal as the only payment option

How Buzz Exposes Private Email Addresses in Replies [Privacy]
Erick Schonfeld at tech news blog TechCrunch highlights yet another potential privacy hole in Google's young social network (which has already been the cause of much concern ). This time, it looks like sending an @reply under certain circumstances can reveal a user's email address. Here's how: If you select a name or account that is not public, Buzz will fill in with their private email. For example, I wanted to direct a comment at TechCrunch writer MG Siegler, so I typed in "@mg" and up came three of his different emails

Facebook Eyes Webmail With Project Titan [Facebook]
TechCrunch reports that Facebook is working on a full webmail system to replace their current messaging platform, including full POP and IMAP support and a customized @facebook.com e-mail address. The codename for the new system: Project Titan. In the TechCrunch post, Arrington suggests that Facebook has been working towards a webmail service for some time, expanding their messaging platform to be searchable and allowing Facebook users to send messages directly to non-Facebook e-mail addresses. The site has also shown interest in giving its users a more accessible and more complete online identity with the recent implementation of personalized URLs and the proliferation of Facebook Connect login on third party sites. Project Titan would take this effort a step further, giving users a personalized username@facebook.com e-mail address and letting them access it on Facebook itself or independently via POP and IMAP.

The CrunchPad Is Dead [Greed]
Michael Arrington 's ambitious project to create a super-simple web tablet is dead, drowned in a bathtub half-full of greed and selfishness. This isn't a happy story. It wasn't because of high costs, as previously rumored . Essentially, Arrington got screwed.

Four Years In, You Can Now Subscribe To WordPress.com Blogs By E-mail
You would think that, almost exactly 4 years after opening up to the public, WordPress.com would have a way for people to subscribe to blogs by e-mail, right? You’d be wrong, at least until today. While there has always been the possibility to subscribe to blogs by e-mail using FeedBurner or other RSS facilitators, WordPress.com’s parent company Automattic has now added an email subscription feature to the popular free blogging service. To enable this, simply install the Blog Subscription widget on your WordPress.com blog and you’ll enable anyone to get updates from your blog in their e-mail inboxes, whether they’re WordPress.com users or not, on a per post basis, daily or weekly. Evidently, all subscriptions require confirmation by the address owner and can be canceled at any time

Hey Apple, Google, et al.: Why Do You Hate Christmas?
As the TechCrunch Network’s resident mobile guy, I was given the task of writing up a list of apps for each smartphone platform that you ought to buy as little e-stocking stuffers for your loved ones. It was to be my primary contribution to CrunchGear’s ultra-amazing Holiday Gift Guide ; my festively themed magnum opus. But there’s a problem with this idea: it can’t be done.

Google Chrome OS Will Be Unveiled In Two Days [Rumor]
Surprise ! Friday's report that the Chrome OS "launch" for this week was almost true: Google's OS will be shown in "complete overview" on Thursday. But what does that mean, exactly? According to Techcrunch this isn't really a launch, but rathe a chance to give us a first look at the OS, and for Google to detail their actual launch plans (we've been sitting tight with the "late 2010" projection from the initial announcement ): The plan is to give some technical background information as well as show off some demos, we're told. More notably, they will be giving a "complete overview" of the new OS, which they say will launch next year. Knowing what Chrome OS will look like is only half the fun anyway—three months after it was announced, we still don't really know what the hell it is , or how it's going to work.

Topsy Surfaces Hottest Real Time Links, Hits Bit.ly And TweetMeme Head On
Real time search and discovery engine Topsy is releasing a bunch of new products and tools this afternoon. Topsy is all about the power of the ReTweet on Twitter. When the service first launched publicly in May we noted that ReTweets are the new currency of the web. And it isn’t just the number of retweets that matters (which is subject to large scale spamming efforts). It’s the authority of the people doing the retweeting, too
