Sony selling ‘PlayStation Protection Plan’ warranty extension for PS3, PSP

Sony makes some pretty resilient game consoles, and while you'll certainly hear about the occasional glitch , they aren't exactly plagued with RRoD . That said, there's always room for worry, and if you're willing to pay for peace of mind, Sony has a brand-new service agreement with your name on it. Dubbed the "PlayStation Protection Plan," it simply extends the full warranty on your PlayStation 3 or PSP for another year or two, and optionally covers your handheld's five-foot swan dive onto solid concrete for an additional fee. While replacement won't quite be no-questions-asked and the warranty explicitly fails to cover dead pixels, liquid damage and loss of data (among other things), we can still imagine some will pony up the $30 to $50 for extra insurance. Not us, though.

iPhone Is Eating Sony PSP and Nintendo DS’ Lunch [STATS]

Some of the content has been around for a while — for example, NBC Universal videos debuted on the PlayStation Network one year ago tomorrow — but PlayStation owners have access to a few new movies today. They include Up , G-Force , Earth , Star Trek , Paranormal Activity , Zoolander , This Is It , 2012 , District 9 , Zombieland , Inglourious Basterds , Couples Retreat , Public Enemies , The Hangover , Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and The Wizard of Oz . All the studios but Fox are represented there; Fox’s new contributions ( Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian , Jennifer’s Body and Fantastic Mr. Fox ) will debut on the PSN this Saturday, March 13

RealView’s V-Screen for PSP review

The PSP may be a lot of things to a lot of people, but it's not capable of pumping out images in 3D -- cross your eyes all you want but nothing's going to leap off of that LCD. We'll have to wait for at least another iteration of portables before we can start expecting any miracles in that department, but until then there's the V-Screen ! It's a big, silly-looking attachment that pledges to add depth to your PSP games despite the system's distinctly two-dimensional screen. Is it magic? Is it sorcery? Is it complete bull?
