Roverpad comes clean with five new tablet PCs, one running Tegra

And here you were thinking this whole "tablet revolution" thing was a myth, huh? Out of seemingly nowhere, Russia's own Rover Computer has just issued not one, not two, but five new tablet PCs for its nine time zones, with one of 'em boasting Windows CE 6.0 and the others running on Google's Android system. Kicking things off is the Air G70, which will boast a 7-inch resistive touchscreen, a 667MHz ARM11 CPU, 256MB of RAM, a 4GB internal flash drive, WiFi, optional 3G and a microSD expansion slot. Next up is the Go G50, Android-powered 5-inch slate that relies on a Marvell PXA303, 128MB of RAM, 2GB of storage as well as 3G, WiFi, a microSD slot and a USB socket.

NEC LifeTouch Android tablet isn’t exactly a beauty

Hey, they say beauty's in the eye of the beholder, but we're going to go out on a limb here and call this one like we see it: NEC 's LifeTouch Android tablet isn't a looker, in our opinion. That said, this 7-incher runs Android 2.1 and packs an ARM Cortex A8 processor. Although it's scheduled for release in Japan in October, it turns out that it'll be sold directly to businesses, so don't hope to grab up one of these -- unless you have the best employer ever, that is. Hey, at least it's original looking. Video below

What’s going on with the HP Slate?

Interesting post by our friend Harry McCracken at Technologizer today, pointing out that HP's gone dead silent about the Slate ever since it announced plans to acquire Palm . Harry was at The Big Money's Untethered conference today, and HP CTO Phil McKinney was on stage, where he "talked about the downsides of using existing operating systems for new types of devices" and "extolled the virtues of webOS." Interesting topic, since the Slate very prominently ran Windows 7. When pressed, Phil said he couldn't talk about unreleased products, which is a big change: it's been six months since Steve Ballmer first showed the Slate at CES , and since then HP's produced several rah-rah videos , one of them featuring none other than Phil McKinney himself . Harry takes this new silence to mean that the HP Slate is dead , and we're beginning to think he's right: although we haven't heard anything definite, we definitely noticed HP's absence at tablet-heavy Computex , and at this rate, the Slate's rumored 1.6GHz Atom Z530 will be hopelessly out of date by the time it launches -- Intel's now showing off Moorestown Atom Z600 tablets and it's got the Windows-tablet focused Oak Trail Atom planned for early next year

Another Android tablet spotted? Say it ain’t so!

What's this? Oh, just yet another Android tablet spotted in the wild hanging out, looking cool. This one, made by Acorp, is a 5-incher with Android 1.5 (upgradable to 2.2) and we have to say, it definitely looks a lot like the Dell Streak . We also hear that there's going to be a 7-inch version as well, if you need something that's absolutely massive. It's got a 600MHz Rockchip ARM9 processor, micrsSD slot, 3.5mm jack and Wi-Fi, and a resistive touchscreen with stylus.

Nokia C7 caught with 8 megapixel camera?

After seeing the C7 listed in what looked to be legitimate Nokia documents, we now have our first look at the handset -- or at least a device that claims to be the C7-00. Purported specs scrapped from a Chinese site suggest an 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, stereo speakers, 3.5-mm headphone jack, and a display measuring about 3.5-inches. It's unclear if said display is resistive or capacitive or if we're looking at an S60 5th or Symbian^3 OS until somebody switches the damn thing on. Until then you can oogle the profile and backside shots after the break. Continue reading Nokia C7 caught with 8 megapixel camera

How would you change Fusion Garage’s JooJoo?

Alright, so we gave you the opportunity to rant and rave on Apple's iPad last week, and it's only fitting that Fusion Garage's much-anticipated JooJoo go next. To date, it's pretty safe to say that quite a bit less (we're understating things here, obviously) JooJoo tablets have been sold than the aforesaid iPad, but that's not to say none of you have one. On the off-chance that you actually are the proud owner of a JooJoo, we couldn't be more eager to hear how you'd tweak things if given the golden opportunity. Would you make the screen a touch smaller? Alter the exterior design in any way?

WePad renamed WeTab to ‘clearly differentiate’ itself

The WePad has already had to cross a few hurdles and overcome some skepticism on it's way to a release, and it's now undergone another big change -- it's just been renamed the "WeTab." According to the company, that's been done in order to "clearly differentiate our products within the international market for tablet computers." No other changes, from the looks of it, and the company says that pre-orders of the device are not affected by the name switch-a-roo -- although we suppose you can cancel if you're fiercely averse to anything named "Tab." Coincidentally, it seems that the tablet has also recently gone up for pre-order on Amazon.de, with it demanding the expected €449 for the 16GB WiFi version, and €569 for the 32GB 3G model -- still no promised ship date, unfortunately. [Thanks, Mike] Continue reading WePad renamed WeTab to 'clearly differentiate' itself WePad renamed WeTab to 'clearly differentiate' itself originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 07 May 2010 11:16:00 EST. Android Eee Pad to debut in June, could ship as early as July

We have more details on that impending Eee Pad for y'inz. Interested? Of course you are! Speaking at a conference in Taiwan, Asustek Computer chairman Jerry Shen recently announced that the device will get its official introduction at Computex 2010, the first week of June. With any luck, the thing will hit retail channels the third quarter of this year -- possibly as early as July, a DigiTimes' source reports. Report: iPad grabbed 0.03 percent of all web traffic in its first week on earth

Yesterday, when Apple announced it was pushing back the international launch of the iPad until the end of May, high demand was cited -- over 500,000 units delivered, it said. And today, we've got a report out from NetApplications that indicates the iPad might be quickly making inroads with users. Over the first week of the device's public availability, the report says, the iPad nabbed about 0.03 percent of all web traffic. For comparison, the iPhone averages about 0.51 percent of traffic. This number nearly matches web traffic for BlackBerrys in March -- 0.04 percent (Android grabbed up 0.07 percent, as did Windows Mobile)
