Remember doubleTwist, the very cool iTunes alternative that aims to easily sync any content to any device? Well now the ambitious tool is taking one more step to make iTunes obsolete, incorporating an Amazon MP3-powered music store. Currently doubleTwist’s Amazon MP3 store is only available for the Mac version of the app, but Windows support is coming. The music store looks eerily similar to the iTunes music store (see below), which is a bit silly, but it’s clear that doubleTwist is aiming straight for iTunes’ jugular, so it’s not all that surprising. (Click the image above for a closer look.) We’ve been particularly annoyed lately with Apple’s regular refusal to allow generic, non-iPod players to sync with iTunes (it’s near the top of our iTunes wishlist ), and now that Apple’s been given the okay to continue doing just that, we’re thrilled to see a third-party solution step in with a goal of providing syncing for any device, iPod or not.
