The Boxee Box is Un-Boxed [VIDEO]

I love Boxee , the media center with a social twist. While I’m disappointed that I won’t get to have my very own Boxee Box until later this fall , the Boxee crew has just posted a video showing off the final device. The box is small, has a unique shape that will make it easy to either hide away or fit on a component shelf and it promises to be the easiest way to bring the Boxee experience to your TV. Boxee has partnered with D-Link on the Boxee Box and D-Link will be bringing it to stores.

Can YouTube Make the Jump to Your TV With Leanback?

YouTube is not only expanding its reach on mobile devices , but it has its eye on your living room, too. Today, the company is launching the beta version of YouTube Leanback , the company’s biggest attempt yet to dominate the TV screen and the living room. YouTube Leanback was actually revealed back in May at the Google I/O conference as part of the announcement of Google TV .

Groupon Competitor LivingSocial Has Now Raised $44 Million This Year

Keep your eye on LivingSocial , folks; it’s hoarding cash for something mighty big. In January, the company raised $5 million as an initial Series B round from Grotech Ventures and AOL Founder Steve Case. Two months later, on March 11, LivingSocial announced a further $25 million, led by U.S. Venture Partners and augmented by Grotech and Case. And today, we’ve learned the company is taking a further $14 million Series C round, this time led by Lightspeed Venture Partners with U.S.

Toshiba UX600 series: first HDTVs certified Windows 7 compatible

Here's something you don't see every day: a Windows 7 certified 55-inch TV. Toshiba's 120Hz UX600 series is just such a beast, the first on the market to receive official Microsoft certification thanks in part to DLNA support over Ethernet or WiFi. The logo's a nice touch that takes the guess work out of the purchase equation for the average consumer looking to stream media to the living room. Just don't let us catch any retailers slapping a "Compatible with Windows 7" sticker on the bezel ok; this ain't no Best Buy laptop. It looks like today's the day that the first Wii Netflix discs are arriving in customer's hands, which only means one thing -- time for a poll.
