Modern Warfare 2 sells 5 million in a day

We all knew that Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was going to be big, but just how big? Well, according to publisher Activision, the game has sold approximately 4.7 million units across North America and the United Kingdom in its first 24 hours. These numbers are based on "internal Activision estimates," which also claim the game had the largest opening day sales numbers across all forms of entertainment, raking in an estimated $310 million.

PC Modern Warfare 2: it’s much worse than you thought

Infinity Ward needs to realize that talking to people in the PC community does not end well for the buzz around its game. The lack of dedicated servers was "announced" during an interview with a gaming podcast , and the interviewers were stunned into silence when they were basically told their community, as they knew it, was dead. They would have to learn to adapt to Infinity Ward controlling all aspects of the servers, or move onto another game. Call of Duty film in the works?

One of gamings biggest franchises could be coming to the the big screen with chatter of Call of Duty being turned into an all guns blazing blockbuster. The hint came via a teasing post by Infinity Ward and Call of Duty developer Robert Bowling’s Twitter page: “First round of meetings in Paris wrapped. No demo for Modern Warfare 2 in the works

Considering it’s massive scale (in terms of hype and such) you would think that Infinity Ward would want as much beta testing as possible for Modern Warfare 2 but it’s seems like they have got said testing covered in house.
