Hulu Plus to Deliver Shows to iPad, iPhone, PS3 and More

Hulu has just announced that it is launching a subscription service called Hulu Plus — something that has been rumored for some time. For $9.99 per month, subscribers will get access to all the episodes in a popular show’s season, not just the past five or so, plus every episode of select series such as The X-Files , Buffy the Vampire Slayer , Law & Order , Ally McBeal , Grey’s Anatomy and more. They’ll also gain access to significantly more content in high definition, and they can watch episodes on the go using either Wi-Fi or 3G with new apps for both the iPad and iPhone (a long-awaited announcement in an of itself). You’ll also be able to watch on the Sony PlayStation 3 game console and select Samsung TVs and Blu-ray players. Hulu Plus isn’t available to everyone yet, but you can request a “preview invite” at Hulu’s website

Reuters: Hulu plans to expand to iPad, Xbox 360, offer subscription service

We've already heard rumors of Hulu coming to the iPad and Xbox 360 , and rumors of a subscription service , and it looks like those might now all be coming together. According to Reuters , two sources and "another with knowledge of the matter" say that Hulu will be rolling out to "multiple devices" in the next month or two -- only the iPad and Xbox 360 are mentioned by name -- and that it will indeed be offering a subscription service. As we had heard, the subscription service would apparently only be for older episodes of TV shows and other content -- you'd still be able to watch new episodes of shows for free -- and it sounds like it will apply to Hulu as a whole, not just those aforementioned devices. Not many more details than that, unfortunately, but this does certainly seem to be taking on a feeling of inevitability. Reuters: Hulu plans to expand to iPad, Xbox 360, offer subscription service originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 09 Jun 2010 12:22:00 EDT.
