A recently discovered listing on the HP website has restarted the rumor mill for the HP Slate , the PC maker’s supposed Windows 7 tablet. PCWorld has uncovered a now-removed webpage on HP’s website that lists not one, but eight different version of the “HP Slate 500″ tablet. Energy Star also lists the product on its website. Here are the specs, according to HP and Energy Star’s websites: – Runs Windows 7 Premium – 8.9″ screen – Two cameras: video camera for web conferencing and a still camera – Works with a stylus/pen interface – 1 GB of RAM (for reference, the iPad has 256 MB) These numbers fit a previous HP Slate leak from April.

In an eerily timed blog post, “Dilbert” cartoonist Scott Adams uploaded two unpublished comic strips today that deal with the misplaced next generation iPhone. [See above] The iPhone, which was left in a bar by an Apple employee named Gray Powell, came to light last week, when gadget blog Gizmodo posted footage of the yet to be officially announced phone. We’ve seen a lot of commentary/rumblings since then — Letterman even included the next-gen Apple product in his top 10 list — and today that all came to a head when the news came out that police raided the home of Gizmodo editor Jason Chen and took his computers, according to the gadget blog . A creation by attendees of this year’s EclipseCon2010 indicates that an iPhone-controlled rover might not just be a flight of fancy. EclipseCon2010 participants were tasked with the challenge to “create the very best robotic control system to drive a robot across a prototypical Mars landscape” and to “prove [their] e4 programming skills by creating the very best e4-Rover client,” according to the website . We won’t front — there’s little chance we’d actually use JXD ’s V3 handheld, but it’s not for lack of interest. This here PMP / game player hybrid isn’t apt to leave the shores of Asia, but for those in that neck of the woods, this unit offers up emulators for a slew of game consoles, a 4.3-inch display, a 5 megapixel camera and plenty of file format support to handle your favorite music and video. Reportedly, the device even features an FM radio tuner, and in case you’re curious as to why there are two D-pads on this thing, it’s because you’ll need ‘em to get through certain Game Boy / NES titles.
