Detroit Red Wings Make Game Programs Interactive With QR Codes
The Detroit Red Wings are a socially savvy bunch. The NHL team recently started including QR codes in their in-arena distributed Red Wings Today program, and the effort is proving to be a big hit with fans in attendance. After seeing Esquire’s use of augmented reality , the team decided to get creative and make their print program interactive (embedded below) to include digital media accessible via QR codes.

Target Facebook Page Updates by Location or Language
Here’s a neat new feature we noticed on our Facebook Page this morning: the ability to target updates to users in specific locations or users who access the site in a specific language. You can imagine this being useful for situations in which you’re promoting an event, or, posting content in multiple languages. By targeting only those that an item is applicable to, you reduce your chances of overwhelming your fans with unnecessary information to the point that they start hiding your updates. To use it, there’s now a pull-down next to the “Share†button with the option of “Everyone†or “Customize.†Everyone lets you post a message to all of your fans as normal, but Customize lets you enter in a location (all the way down to the city level) and/or a language to post only to those that the settings apply to

Facebook Killed The MTV Star: Shakira To Debut New Music Video On Ustream/Facebook
International music star Shakira is taking a new approach to releasing her latest music video: she’s doing it through a live stream on Ustream , which will be emedded on her Facebook Page. According to Sony, this is the first time an artist has used the platform to debut a music video ( Updated : Sony is wrong. Chamillionaire did it first, see below). Shakira (and her managers) are keen on the idea because it allows her and her fans to interact with each other in real time — something that’s not practical on TV, where these videos have been making their debuts for decades
