The Future of Apple TV: iOS Apps, 720p and an ‘i’ Name [RUMOR]
New rumors suggest that an upcoming refresh of the Apple TV will bring iOS app support, as well as a new name for the device. According to Engadget , the next version of the Apple set-top box will be called the iTV. Mac history buffs will recall that this was the original name Apple announced for the device back in October of 2006; we can only assume the company has settled the trademark disputes over that name if it intends to go forward with a change.

AT&T and Sony Ericsson Rolling Out New Android Smartphone
Sony Ericsson and AT&T are working together on a new Android “ superphone ,” one that promises to be all things to all people — including heavy communicators, social media junkies and audio/video consumers. Dubbed the Xperia X10, this new device will feature a 4-inch screen, a 1GHz processor, an 8.1 megapixel camera and up to 32GB of memory. All these hardware perks are wedded to an interesting software suite, and the UI itself is rumored to be something special, too. The one element about which AT&T and Sony are deliberately vague is the specific Android version the device will run. Whether or not the Xperia will ship with Android 2.1 or the much-coveted 2.2 (a.k.a.

Audiovox rolls out FLO TV-equipped DFL01 portable DVD player
FLO TV may not be the runaway success that Qualcomm hoped it would be , but it's been pushing into one new area after the next as of late, and you can now add portable DVD players to that list -- Audiovox has just rolled out the first such device with its DFL01 player. It was actually announced way back at CES in January, but is now available to order for $199, which will get you a 7-inch widescreen display, three months of free FLO TV service (it'll run you $14.99 a month after that) and, of course, a built-in DVD player. Somewhat curiously, it seems that HSN is the only retailer actually shipping the device right now, but it's said to be "coming soon" to Best Buy as well. Audiovox rolls out FLO TV-equipped DFL01 portable DVD player originally appeared on Engadget on Sat, 07 Aug 2010 19:07:00 EDT

Kindle Gets Games; Two Free Apps Launched
The Kindle is no longer an ebooks-only device; developers have just released two Kindle-ready games, thanks to the Kindle Development Kit (KDK). The KDK was launched earlier this year. At that time, we predicted more non-book apps, from productivity tools to games, would be available for Kindle users. Of course, with Kindle’s paper-like interface, we weren’t expecting first-person shooters or elaborate fantasy games.

RIM and AT&T Unveil “The Best BlackBerry Device Ever”
BlackBerry and AT&T have introduced the BlackBerry Torch, a smartphone that AT&T’s President and CEO of Mobility and Consumer Markets Ralph de la Vega calls “the best BlackBerry device ever.” RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis describes the device as the first “touch qwerty slider” for BlackBerry, meaning it features both a slide out keyboard and a touch screen. It’s also the first smartphone from RIM that uses a webkit browser (which the company got with its acquisition of Torch Mobile ). The device also features a 5 megapixel camera with flash, and is the first BlackBerry to ship with version 6 of the company’s operating system.
