In-Flight Wi-Fi War: Row 44 Raises $37 Million to Challenge GoGo

The battle to power the Internet connection on your next flight is kicking into high gear with a $37 million round of funding for Row 44, the company that powers in-flight Wi-Fi for Southwest Airlines . Today’s funding comes eight months after rival Aircell, the company responsible for GoGo Inflight Internet, closed a massive $176 million round of funding . Row 44 intends to use its newly replenished bank account to lease more satellite transponders, according to the L.A.

Mozilla Launches Initiative to Promote Browser Games

Mozilla, makers of the Firefox web browser, is looking to promote browser gaming in a big way by convincing developers to harness the power of HTML5 and other open web technologies. Earlier today, Mozilla Labs launched a new division: Mozilla Labs Gaming . It’s an initiative “committed to providing the game developer community with the platform and tools they need to make innovative games on the Open Web,” according to the Mozilla Labs Gaming homepage. HOW TO: Set Up Missed Call Notifications in Google Voice

Over the weekend, Google announced a new feature for Google Voice : The ability to receive notifications of missed calls in e-mail form. It’s a welcome feature, but as is often the case with new Google application additions, it’s hidden away in the settings menu, and the blog post about it didn’t clearly explain exactly how it works. It’s easy to turn on the notifications for calls going to your Google Voice number, but it’s a little more complicated to get the feature working with your “real” mobile number.
